Over the last two years of my life, I have devoted my time to my education at BCIT. The Marketing Communications diploma program is both challenging and rewarding. The pinnacle of the program comes in January when the students begin their search for internships.
Fast-forward three months, and I am one of those interns. The life of a student, an intern, and a part-time job can be quite tiresome. Working six days a week, with many days topping 12 hours. Sometimes I wonder how I manage.
I say it builds character, I love being busy! So, you could say interning at DSA has been a dream come true. In just seven weeks I have learned so many valuable skills in media. Working with AdWords, the programmatic landscape, Facebook business, and booking placements has been both exciting and intriguing. I can’t wait to continue learning new things.
In terms of organizational culture, communication is important, and everybody looks out for each other. The people here are great and always make me laugh. Birthday treats are something everybody in the office looks forward to, who doesn’t like some delicious snacks. I’m looking forward to my birthday treats during my last day as a DSA intern (I haven’t decided what I’m going to get yet, but I promise you it will be delicious). I can’t wait to be done school, it’s time for the next step!
